HOPE is our online support group for women and girls aged 16+ who have experienced some form of domestic abuse or sexual violence at any point in their lives. It is a safe, confidential space for those who feel ready to share their experiences and hear other women’s stories of coping and healing.
HOPE stands for, 'Healing Our Past and Evolving', an acronym created by our group members.
Learning and healing together
HOPE is a small, friendly, diverse group, that will help you access and explore your feelings and the impact of domestic abuse has had on your life whilst building self-confidence and resilience. The small size of this group will help you to build bonds, share your wisdom and learn from other women who have been through similar experiences. Women often describe the group as a sisterhood.
Led by an experienced facilitator
HOPE is facilitated by an experienced group facilitator and British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) accredited counsellor who has over 20 years’ experience of running groups and working with people impacted by domestic abuse.
This group takes place online once a week via Zoom and lasts for 90 minutes. You can attend every week, or drop-in as and when. You decide what level of attendance feels right for you.

'There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you' Maya Angelou
Writing can play a powerful role in our journeys of self-discovery and healing. It bears witness to our untold story, our experiences, which include successes, desires, difficulties and frustrations.
When used with poetry and in a therapeutic way, research has shown that it can offer significant health and wellbeing benefits.
The facilitator uses carefully selected poems as a springboard for writing, reflection and conversations.
No prior knowledge of poetry or expressive writing is required; you don’t need to worry about spelling, grammar or style. You simply need to be willing to share, reflect and experiment with words in a supportive environment.
Led by an experienced Certified poetry therapist
This group is facilitated by a certified poetry therapist with the USA-based International Federation for Biblio/Poetry Therapy (IFBPT). She uses creativity, poetry and writing to enable clients gain a deeper level of healing and transformation.
