Our counsellors offer short-term telephone based counselling by referral to help you acknowledge and explore what has happened to you.
We offer eight weekly (50 mins) sessions of telephone counselling.
We know you may never have shared what happened to you with anyone before. We also understand that there are many reasons for this, reasons that may be to do with your culture, with embarrassment or shame, you may have thought no one would believe you or there may be another reason altogether.
In these sessions you won’t be judged. This is a space where you can find healing and begin to recover from the long-term impacts of emotional, physical and sexual abuse.
Counselling can help you break the silence, release emotions and find healing in a safe and supportive environment.
A track record of helping women
We have over 20 years’ experience in helping women cope with the trauma of domestic abuse and sexual violence. This experience has shown us that it is possible to trust again and to enjoy satisfying and fulfilling relationships.
Our counsellors come from diverse backgrounds and are British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) accredited or are working towards accreditation. They adhere to the Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions and have extensive experience of working in the Violence Against Women and Girls Sector (VAWG).
Putting you at the heart of it
We passionately believe in putting our clients at the heart of their counselling, as they are the experts on their own life. Our method of counselling is primarily ‘person-centred’. This approach, developed by psychologist Carl Rogers, focuses on the idea that every individual has the internal resources they need for growth.
This approach is particularly helpful for women who wish to explore their feelings and is not suitable for those who seek a diagnosis or extensive advice.
We do not work from a script or have a set of questions, you choose what you wish to talk about. We work with whatever you bring to the conversation and at your own pace.
Once you have completed your counselling sessions you can access our support group HOPE for ongoing help and advice.
You will need a safe and confidential space to access this group.
